Abstract: This Paper examines the impacts of development model implemented by Soeharto in the New Order Indonesia. It argues that the development model carried out by Soeharto failed to materialize its promises to the people. In other words, its development does not represent a “real” development. In this paper, the author discusses three aspects. First, it examines the relationship and impact of economic growth on social welfare in New Order era. Secondly, it discusses the strategy of development that affected political freedom. Thirdly, it examines the impact of development on environment in Indonesia
