Abstract: Ethyl acetate fraction of the Artocarpus altilis extract which have a potency to treat the cardiovascular diseases have poorly solubility in water. The purpose of this study was to improve the solubility of the extract. One of method to improve the solubility is mixing with cyclodextrins polymer. Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as water-soluble polymer can enhance of the β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) activity. Three comparisons was made between extracts and β-CD that were 1:2 (F1), 1:4 (F3), and 1:6 (F3) with the addition of PVP 5% of the total weight of extract and β-CD for each formula. The sample was prepared by kneading method. Each formula was characterized by Karl Fischer Titration, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Solubility Study. The Result showed that the addition polymer combination of β-CD+PVP caused increasing the solubility of extract in water 5.09% (F1), 27.79% (F2), and 73.26% (F3) compared to extract control with significant differences at level of confidence 95% (p ≤ 0.05).
