The Effectiveness of Guided Practice Using Voice Message on WhatsApp on Students’ Speaking Ability (An Experimental Study at the first year students joining in a language organization UKM Bahasa-FLAT). Advisor II : Devi Yusnita, M.Pd. This research was aimed at seeing the effectiveness of guided practice using voice message on WhatsApp on students’ speaking ability. The samples were the first year students joining in a language organization UKM Bahasa-FLAT with 10 students for each class. The students of English-1 were as the control class and the students of English-2 were as the experimental class. The effectiveness of guided practice using voice message on WhatsApp can be seen from the students’ speaking scores. The writer used both quantitative and qualitative method. The quantitative method used to know the score of pretest and postest and the qualitative method used the triangulation of the data (interview, test and questionnaire) to know the significance of WhatsApp and the progress of speaking ability. The research instrument was an interview to know the speaking ability of the object students, an oral test for pretest and posttest that used rubric of David P. Harris scale rating score and the questionnaire consisting of five open-ended questions asking the students’ opinion about the guided practice using voice message on WhatsApp. In addition, the test was administered at the beginning and at the end of the treatment. The result of analyzed t-test that found on significance level 5%; ttable is 1.734 and the tobserve is 1,066. This means so the alternative hypothesis (H1) is rejected and null hypothesis (H0) is accepted. It could be proven that there were differences but not significant between the results of using guidance with voice message on WhatsApp on students in UKM Bahasa-FLAT’s speaking ability. For the questionnaire result, the effectiveness of the guided practice using voice message onWhatsApp is 76.7% showed that the guidance using voice message on WhatsApp affects positive on students’ speaking ability. The writer also used the R Square to calculate the percentage of the effectiveness of the result. It is 0.059. It means that the effectiveness of the guidance using voice message on WhatsApp on students speaking ability in UKM Bahasa-FLAT is 0.059 or 5.9%.
