|Abstract:||Professionalism in doctor and patient relationship is influenced by the capability of accomplishment of interpersonal skills, those are verbal and non-verbal communication skills, listening skills, negotiating skills, problem solving skills, decision making skills, and assertive skills that showed within the interaction with patients. Those skills are showed in the doctor-patients relationship that were set into seven aspects of communication by Kalamazoo Consensus Statement The hypothesis was that there was no significant difference between doctors that based on their place of work. To identify the difference of doctor’s interpersonal communication skills character between RSUP Fatmawati as the public hospital and the other hospitals as private hospital (RS Syarif Hidayatullah and RS Harapan Bunda). The study was a cross sectional design with 150 samples for each hospital (total samples were 450 samples). Data was gathered by using the questionnaires within September to December 2013, and analyzed by SPSS 16 using Pearson chi square test. There was significant difference between doctor’s interpersonal skills characters in RSUP Fatmawati, RS Syarif Hidayatullah dan RS Harapan Bunda. The lowest interpersonal skills were obtained by RS Syarif Hidayatullah. The attitude and behaviour of doctor’s performance from patients perspective was only 20,7% that had a good interpersonal skills. The character of doctor’s interpersonal skills in doctor and patient relationship has significantly different based on the work place. Attitude and behaviour showed that character of doctor’s interpersonal skills was still low. It needs hospital intervention to improve the quality of service for the patients.|
