Abstract: With the release of the Presidential Decree No.031 dated May 20, 2002 IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially changed to be UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This change makes the increase in the number of faculty and the number of students who study in it. Changes that occur on this campus, go hand in hand with changes that occur with the surrounding community. The most visible change is the presence of many boarding houses as temporary housing students especially those from outside the city and outside the province. This study intends to find out what impact the existence of boarding houses against social attitudes of the community that are around campus UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This study uses a qualitative approach, the data collected is the result of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the research I have found that there is the impact of the presence of boarding houses to the community such as the number of newcomers, many new culture, there are many new buildings, open green spaces reduced, many new business opportunities, employment, population density increases, the level of criminality increased, and the attitude of developing individuality. There is also the impact on social attitudes of society ie positive social attitudes in the form of cooperation, solidarity and tolerance as well as the negative social attitudes in the form of egosim. From these facts, the author knew where boarding house which is mainly inhabited by students, directly or indirectly, has become part of the surrounding community. Supposedly the residents of boarding houses dominated by the students can be more caring and mingle in society as a form of devotion practiced Dharma.
