Abstract: This paper aimed to explain the importance of the art as a supporting skill for Arabic teacher candidates. Faculty of Tarbiya and Teachers Training of UIN Jakarta has a semi-autonomous institution that embodies the interests and talents of students in the field of art, namely POSTAR (Tarbiya’s Art Corner). By facilitating and developing students’ interests and talents in the field of art, it became a beneficially extra-value for potential teachers, especially Arabic teachers of UIN Jakarta. In addition, teachers who have skills in the arts will be more creative in developing the instructional materials and also motivate students to learn Arabic. Currently, our national colleges and universities are implementing KKNI curriculum (Indonesian National Qualifications Framework), which aims to prepare graduates to face the phenomenon of the AEC (ASEAN Economic Community) and compete with foreign graduates in various fields. The faculty cooperates with authoritative art institutions recommended to issue SKPI (Complementary Certificate of Diploma) in the field of art for graduates who played an active role in POSTAR. The students of Arabic Education Department were also recommended to be a member of POSTAR and play an active role in its various activities. Thus, it is expected that the graduates of Arabic education can be more innovative and creative in delivering effective instructions with an artistic-based approach. Besides, these graduates will prospectively be eligible to become a licensed art teachers in various educational institutions in an alternative condition as non-Arabic teachers.
