Abstract: The objective of this study is to obtain the empirical evidence on the effectiveness of using picture series on students’ writing skill of procedure text at SMP Muhammadiyah 17 Ciputat. The method used in this research was quantitative method and the design was a quasi-experimental. The population of this study was the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 17 Ciputat. The sample was 70 students chosen through purposive sampling technique and they were classified into two classes, experimental and controlled class. The instrument of this study was a written test which was divided into pre-test and post-test and they were conducted to both classes. After conducting the pre-test and post-test, the data were analyzed using t-test analysis. The result of statistical hypothesis testing found out that to was 3.17 and ttable in significance level 5% was 1.66757. It showed that the to is higher than ttable which meant that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Therefore, it proved that there was a significant effect of using picture series on students’ writing skill of procedure text.
