Abstract: The Implementation of Direct Instruction Learning Models to Improve Students’ Achievement, Chemistry Education Program Study, Department of Science Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, 2009. This research aims was to improvee students’ achievement by implementing direct instruction learning models. The method use is classroom action research, consist of two cycles, with each cycle consist of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting phase. This research did at SMAN 2 Kota Tangerang Selatan class of XI Science 4, amounting to 42 students. This research is focusing on thermochemistry consept that is calculating of enthalpy reaction. The data collecting technique was test items, observation sheet, and questionnaire sheet. This research shows that it obtains 100% students’ cacthed minimum score (70) on second cycle with the average score was 84,55. From the average test between postest average cycle I and II using ‘z’-test with error degree 5% obtained zcount = 1,98 > ztable = 1,96. Thus, there was significant differences between postest average cycle I and II. In addition, from the observation and questionnaire sheet about implementing direct instruction learning models shows the percentage escalation from first cycle to second cycle. This research prove that the direct instruction learning models give positive impact in learning and teaching process.
